Tomb of Sir Nicholas Halswell
The 17th century tomb-chest of Sir Nicholas Halswell and his wife Lady Bridget, surrounded by their 9 children 6 sons and 3 daughters, can be found in the Halswell Chapel. The chapel was built as a result of an agreement made in 1558 when Sir Nicholas was given a plot of land to the north of the chancel. The statues around the base are known as 'weepers' and are kneeling representatives of his children. Sir Nicholas died in 1633.
